Italic is an approachable, rustic Italian restaurant in downtown Austin headed by Chef Drew Curren and the team at ELM restaurant group. Anchoring a prominent corner of the 1954 modernist Starr building, the new design brings scale, color and texture to the formerly cavernous room, creating a vibrant space that marries well with both the urban context and the excellent cuisine.

Working in close collaboration with interior designer Roni Koltuniac, our team took inspiration from the terrazzo floors and concrete structure of the existing structure, softening the palette with warm wood paneling and local limestone, adding pops of bright color, and inserting a monumental wine display case to add a theatrical focus to the space.
