Gary Furman is a native Texan and founding principal of Furman + Keil Architects.  He studied architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with high honors. Gary’s professional life extends into many facets of the community. His volunteer efforts have included designing low-income, sustainable housing with the Austin Alley Flat Initiative, mentoring students at the University of Texas and in the public schools, and serving as a Director on the board of the non-profit organization, Shelter with Spirit.

In 2011, Gary was honored as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. Gary is registered with the Green Building Certification Institute as LEED Accredited Professional. Texas Architect registration #13481.

Philip worked with Gary Furman Architects for five years before joining as a partner to form Furman + Keil Architects in 2005. Philip had six years prior experience working for Santiago Calatrava in Paris, Perkins and Will in Chicago, and Austin-based firms Paul Lamb Architects and the Austin Collaborative. Philip is on the Board of Directors for the Sustainable Food Center, and is an active member of American Institute of Architecture. He has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. Philip is a member of the United States Green Building Council. Texas Architect registration #17643. 

Philip received the John V. Nyfeler, FAIA Community Service Award at the 2016 AIA Honor Awards for his contributions to the local Austin community.
