GTF HAS BROKEN GROUND / by Furman + Keil Architects

DECEMBER 15, 2010

We are proud to announce that construction of the Greater Texas Foundation (GTF) headquarters in Bryan, Texas is underway.

This class A, LEED Silver office facility will be the new headquarters for GTF, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure all Texas students are prepared for, have access to, persist in, and complete post-secondary education. One challenge in the design was to bridge the gap between the current rural quality of the site and it’s future urban potential. Our response to this challenge was to make a semi-urban campus featuring a restored prairie (instead of acres of pavement or turf grass). With restrictions placed on the development reserve to maintain this prairie character, we hope to be raising the bar for other developments along the Highway 47 corridor.

Green Features include: · Rain Water Collection · Reclaimed lumber – from a nearby barn in Bryan · Super insulated Building Envelope · Energy Efficient Systems · Recycled Content · Regional Materials · Onsite Bioswale
