The design integrates house and landscape, capturing views and breezes, enclosing courtyards, and connecting the indoors with the outdoors. Materials are simple and solid: West Texas fieldstone, Douglas fir structural elements and windows, cypress siding, plaster walls, walnut floors and cabinets and a copper roof. The overall impression is one of "rugged sophistication," a term the clients used to communicate the character of the house they wanted to build. |
